
Patriots Win Game One 6-5 over Skeeters

Sugar Land, TX - The Somerset Patriots (1-0) edged the Sugar Land Skeeters (0-1) 6-5 Tuesday evening from Constellation Field in front of 4,298 fans. The Patriots lead the best of five series 1-0.
In the top of the second inning Jeff Baisley (1) slugged a solo home run to deep left field to give the Patriots an early 1-0 advantage.
Sugar Land tied the contest at 1-1 in the bottom of the third inning as first baseman Travis Scott sliced a RBI single up the middle.
Left fielder Steve Moss cranked a two run home run (1) to deep left field to give the Skeeters a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning.
In the top of the fifth inning right fielder Jorge Cortes recorded a RBI ground to cut the deficit in half making the score 3-2 as Sugar Land still led.
Designated hitter Cory Aldridge slugged a mammoth two run homer (1) in the top of the sixth inning to right field to give the Patriots a 4-3 lead which they would never relinquish.
Somerset tacked on a run in the top of the seventh inning as left fielder Aharon Eggleston slapped a RBI single to left field to increase the lead to 5-3.
Scott ripped a RBI double for Sugar Land in the bottom of the seventh inning to make the score 5-4.
Somerset responded as Aldridge blasted his second homer (2) of the game as his solo shot to right field in the eighth inning provided insurance as Somerset led 6-4.
The Skeeters responded with a run of their own in the ensuing half inning as center fielder Adam Godwin poked a RBI single to make the contest 6-5 which would be the final score.
Erik Arnesen (1-0) earned the win tossing seven solid innings allowing four runs on nine hits while striking out six batters. Michael Nix (0-1) suffered the loss lasting 5.2 innings allowing three earned runs while walking three batters. Jon Hunton (1) notched the save pitching a scoreless ninth inning.
The 2013 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue on Friday, September 20th when the Patriots host the Sugar Land Skeeters in Game Three of the Freedom Division Championship Series.
