Fayetteville Patriots News Release

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — David Young helped give the Patriots a 107-101 victory over the Dazzle with a game-high 26 points at the Crown Coliseum on Saturday night. After the Patriots jumped out to a 20 point lead in the first half and held the Dazzle to only 29 points at the half, the visiting team came roaring back in the fourth quarter. The home team saw their 23-point lead cut all the way to five in the waning minutes of the game, but hung on for a 107-101 win.

“We did a great job defensively. The best thing is we kept our poise and knocked down the free throws in the end. We’re coming together as a good defensive team. We came out with a great frame of mind. Our guys came out with something to prove and we executed. We were physical and David Young had a great game. He shot the ball very well. We were a little more perimeter the first half and we scored in the paint in the second half. We had some good blocks.”

This was the Patriots first victory against the Dazzle this season. The Dazzle had six players in double figures, led by Isiah Victor’s 19 points and four rebounds. The Patriots out-rebounded the Dazzle 39-31, with Ruben Boumtje-Boumtje and Ousmane Cisse grabbing eight boards each.

The Patriots had four players in double figures besides Young’s 26. Ernest Brown had 17 points, Ruben Boumtje-Boumtje had 14 and Mike King contributed 17 off the bench. Omar Cook had 10 points to go along with eight assists.

For Roanoke, Terrance Shannon and Matt Carroll both had 16 points. James Thomas had 12 points to go along with seven rebounds. Corey Alexander and Sherman Gay added 14 a apiece.

Fayetteville (9-19) will be battling Huntsville on the road on Monday. Game time is 7:30 p.m. For more information, log onto nbdl.com.
