Patriots Take Down Barnstormers 7-4

The Barnstormers jumped out to an early lead in the first after Adam Calderone singled and Matt Watson (9) drove a two run homerun to left for the 2-0 lead.

The Patriots answered to take the lead in the bottom of the second on a three run homerun by Matt Hagen (7) to make the score 3-2.

Somerset added to their lead the following inning after Fernando Cortez walked and scored on an RBI single by Jeff Nettles for the 4-2 lead.

The Patriots rallied to score three more runs in the fifth on RBI base hits by Cortez, Nettles, and Pressley to make the score 7-2.

Lancaster closed in on the lead during the top of the seventh, scoring two runs on RBI hits by J.C. Holt and Matt Tupman for the 7-4 final.

Patriots starter Derell McCall (3-5) got the win after allowing four runs in 6.2 innings pitched. Barnstormers starter John Halama (2-3) suffered the loss, allowing seven runs on 11 hits in seven innings pitched. Jeff Kennard picked up his first save of the season after tossing a scoreless ninth inning.

The 2011 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue on the road until Wednesday, July 27th when the Patriots return to TD Bank Ballpark for a 7:05 pm game against the Road Warriors.
