Bridgewater, NJ - The Somerset Patriots (2-1, 44-29) defeated the New Britain Bees (1-2, 36-36) 14-1 at TD Bank Ballpark on Sunday evening.

The Bees took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on an RBI single by Alejandro De Aza.

Somerset answered in the bottom of the frame with a run on an error and a sacrifice fly by Edwin Espinal for a 2-1 advantage.

The Patriots broke the game open with a four-run third inning that included a Michael Ohlman two-run double, a sacrifice fly by Yovan Gonzalez and a solo home run by Alfredo Rodriguez (2) that made the score 6-1.

In the next inning, Jimmy Paredes launched a two-run blast (6) that put Somerset up 8-1. Paredes finished the game 2-for4 with three runs scored, a home run and two RBI.

The Patriots made it 10-1 in the bottom of the seventh inning on a run-scoring error and an RBI single by Ramon Flores.

Craig Massey's two-run double, an RBI base hit by Scott Kelly and an RBI fielder's choice by Flores in the bottom of the eighth inning gave Somerset a 14-1 advantage, that would be the final score.

Thomas Dorminy (5-4) picked up the win, allowing a run on seven hits and eight strikeouts in six innings pitched. Jed Bradley (3-4) suffered the loss, allowing six runs- four earned- on six hits in three innings pitched.
