
Patriots sign pitcher Joe Gannon

Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball have announced the signing of right-handed pitcher Joe Gannon.
Gannon has one of only two no-hitters pitched in the Atlantic League, pitching a no-hitter against the Patriots on August 17, 2004 at Commerce Bank Ballpark.
He was 7-4 with a 3.90 ERA and 58 strikeouts in 20 games for the Newark Bears during the 2004 season.
Gannon has experience in the Baltimore Orioles organization, including a season at the Triple-A level.
Gannon began the 2005 season with the Bears and was 5-4 with 25 strikeouts in 14 games played.
He will be activated before the Patriots four game series with the Lancaster Barnstormers beginning Monday evening. Gannon will take the roster spot of right-hander pitcher Brian Tollberg, who was signed by the Houston Astros organization last week.
The 2005 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue on the road until Monday, July 25th when the Patriots return to Commerce Bank Ballpark for a 7:05 pm against the Long Island Ducks. Monday's game includes Christmas in July and The United Way Night.
