
Patriots end season big, 105-99

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. â David Young led the Patriots with 28 points and added an extra touch for the Patriots to end the season victorious, 105-99, in front of the National Basketball Development League's record crowd of 7,029 at Crown Coliseum Saturday night. The fans were entertained by several guest appearances throughout the night including NBA Philadelphia 76ers mascot Hip-Hop, and Paramount Carowinds SpongeBob SquarePants.
The Patriots ended the half ahead, 54-50, but the Flame came back fighting and ended the third quarter tied at 76-76. There were ten lead changes and six ties throughout the night. The Patriots managed to have a lead as large as 11 points.
Three of the Flame players put up double figures to keep the game interesting. Carl English led all scorers with 31 points and had the Flame's only double-double with 11 rebounds. Smush Parker and Tim Pickett had 26 points and 21 points respectively.
Tang Hamilton followed Young closely behind with one of the Patriots three double-doubles with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Ruben Boumtje-Boumtje and Greg Davis, who replaced Omar Cook at the point guard position, also had double-doubles with 13 points and 16 rebounds and 14 points and 10 assists, respectively.
Mike King came off the bench and scored 19 points for the Patriots. The Patriots finished the season at 17-31, tied with Florida.
