
Fayetteville Guard Omar Cook Signs With Raptors

GREENVILLE, S.C., April 9 â The Toronto Raptors have signed Fayetteville Patriots point guard Omar Cook to a 10-day contract, making him the 10th GATORADE Call-Up of the 2004-05 National Basketball Development League season.
Cook is the 49th overall GATORADE Call-Up spread over 34 players since the league began play in November 2001. This is his third call-up while playing in the NBDL. He signed with the Boston Celtics in 2001-02 and the Portland Trail Blazers in 2003-04.
Cook led the NBDL in assists (8.6) and steals (2.1) per game, as well as total assists (380) and total steals (92). In 44 games this season (40 starts), he averaged 38.1 minutes, 11.5 points and 3.6 rebounds. Cook holds D-League career records for games (153), minutes (4,862), assists (1,135) and steals (286).
A second-round selection (32nd overall) in the 2001 NBA Draft by the Orlando Magic, he has played in 17 NBA games, averaging 8.2 minutes, 0.8 points and 1.4 assists.
