Fayetteville Patriots News Release

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C., January 30, 2004 – The Fayetteville Patriots of the National Basketball Development League have claimed Chris Christoffersen from the available player pool, according to an announcement by NBDL director of basketball operations Chris Alpert and Fayetteville head coach Jeff Capel.

The Patriots also released forward Tarvis Williams. Christoffersen will be in uniform when the Patriots face the Roanoke Dazzle Saturday night at 7:30 p.m., at the Crown Coliseum.

Christoffersen, a 7-foot-2, 300-pound center, was a second-round draft pick of the Roanoke Dazzle in the 2003 NBDL Draft. He played 14 games with the Dazzle before being released on January 12 when center Mikki Moore returned from his tour of duty in the NBA.

Christoffersen averaged 5.4 points, 3.6 rebounds and 13.8 minutes, while shooting 53 percent from the floor as a Dazzle player. The former Oregon Duck finished his career in 2001 as the schoolÂ’s third all-time leading shot blocker.

As a senior, he started all 35 games, averaged 8.2 points and 5.4 rebounds, ranked fifth in the Pac-10 in field goal shooting and 10th in blocked shots.

Williams, a Hampton University product, played 15 games for the Patriots. He averaged 3.6 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game. Christoffersen will wear jersey No. 52.
