OTTAWA – Ottawa Renegades receiver Pat Woodcock has been named a Celebrity Co-Chair of the 2005 Bell Walk for Kids Help Phone in Ottawa.

The Kanata native, who has been a major presence in the community since signing with the Renegades 13 months ago, will launch the charity walk – scheduled for Sunday, May 1st – at the Elgin Street Public School beginning at 8:30 a.m. Thursday morning.

"Kids Help Phone is a vital service that helps hundreds of thousands of young people every year, some from our very own neighbourhoods," said Woodcock, of the latest cause he has thrown his support behind. "It is important that we all work together to raise funds and ensure this service can continue to be there for our kids when they reach out for help."

Woodcock's fellow co-chair is Carolyn Waldo of CJOH Television.

The product of Syracuse University has had an active off-season, taking part in dozens of various events and programs, as he continues to give back to the community. As part of his commitment to the Bell Walk for Kids Help Phone, the 27-year-old will also register to walk in the May 1st initiative.

"I encourage each and every one of you to collect pledges and walk on May 1st," said Woodcock. "If you can't participate yourself, then pledge a friend or colleague who is walking and help make this the most successful Bell Walk for Kids Help Phone event ever."
