Club de Foot Montreal News Release
LAVAL - On March 24, the Commission scolaire de Laval (CSDL) and the Montreal Impact announced their commitment to join forces in encouraging perseverance and success in school. It is in this spirit that they agreed to a partnership where various initiatives will be developed under the program "All the Way with the Impact." With the partnership, the CSDL became the 11th school board to join this program since its inception in 2005.
Both organizations want to assert their commitment to youth and education as well as the importance of perseverance, both in sports and in school. For the president of the Commission scolaire de Laval, Louise Lortie, this partnership fits perfectly within the organization's mission: "We have 45,000 students at the CSDL, which consists of 45,000 individual plans for the future to find success. Through this wonderful collaboration with the Impact, we allow students to discover new possibilities while participating in exciting events, contributing to their perseverance and academic success."
As technical director of the Montreal Impact, Adam Braz sees a great opportunity to be close to the community with this partnership and the importance of education in our society: "The program All the Way with the Impact looks to forge relationships with young students, reminding them of the importance of perseverance in each of their courses. Our players believed in their dreams, they persevered despite the pitfalls and today, they excel at their chosen profession - a profession that they are passionate about. This is the importance of perseverance."
Through this partnership, various initiatives will emerge in the coming weeks. Thus, schools in Laval will receive visits from Impact players to promote discussions on healthy life and sports, determination and perseverance. An Impact game will also be played in honour of the Commission scolaire de Laval on May 23. Hundreds of students attend the match and some are even invited to participate in the honour row to welcome the players. Moreover, Tony Licursi scholarships with a total value of $1,000 will be awarded to students who have excelled over the scholastic year. A fundraising campaign for the Laval Schools Foundation will also be organized via ticket sales for the designated CSDL match and will encourage healthy lifestyle initiatives.
