Parade of Champions Set for Capitals Championship Series

Edmonton, AB - The Edmonton Capitals announced today the lineup of Edmonton sports champions who will be attending North American Baseball League Championship Series games to throw out the ceremonial first pitches. The honoured guests will include a Memorial Cup champion, a Stanley Cup champion, two Grey Cup champions and an Olympic gold medalist.
The series opener will feature former Edmonton Oilers captain Al Hamilton who won a Memorial Cup with the Edmonton Oil Kings in 1966. Friday night will feature Hockey Hall of Fame member and five-time Stanley Cup champion Grant Fuhr. Saturdays game will see two Edmonton Eskimos and Grey Cup champions, Ricky Ray and Willie Pless, take to the mound. Sunday afternoon's Game 4 will feature Olympic and World Junior gold medalist and current Edmonton Oilers veteran Ryan Smyth.
The North American Baseball League Championship Series between the Edmonton Capitals and Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings is a best-of-seven series with all seven games being played here in Edmonton. The Capitals will be designated as the home team and National League rules apply for Games 1,2 and (if necessary) 5 and 7. The WhiteWings will be the home team for the alternate games and the designated hitter rule will be in effect for Games 3,4 and (if necessary) 6.
