Elmira Jackals News Release

Elmira, NY - The Elmira Jackals announced today that the Front Office will be hosting a Game Seven Party at Roundin' Third in Elmira on Thursday.

The Jackals Front Office invites everyone to join them for a Game Seven Party on Thursday night, May 24th at Roundin' Third, located at 253 West Water Street in Downtown Elmira. The main event will be Game Seven of the UHL's Colonial Cup Finals between the Rockford IceHogs and the Kalamazoo Wings. Face off is scheduled for 8:30 pm Eastern Time and Roundin' Third will have the B2 Broadcast Live from Rockford on their big screen TV's for fans to catch all the excitement of the ultimate UHL playoff game. For more information please contact Roundin' Third at 607-733-0199.

Home ice has been the key to the UHL's Colonial Cup Finals as the home team has won each of the six games thus far. Rockford squeaked out a 3-2 overtime win in Game One, then pummeled Kalamazoo 6-1 in Game Two, opening up a 2-0 lead as the series went to Michigan. But the resilient K-Wings blanked the IceHogs 3-0 in Game Three and then leveled the series with a wild 6-5 win in Game Four last Saturday. The very next day, back in Rockford for Game Five, the IceHogs again dominated at home, thrashing Kalamazoo 6-1, taking a 3-2 series lead and putting the pressure on the defending champs. But the persistent K-Wings earned a resounding 6-2 victory in Game Six at Wings Stadium, forcing this winner-take-all showdown at the Rockford Metro Centre. This is only the third-ever Game Seven in Colonial Cup Finals history; Quad City beat Flint in seven games to win the 1998 Colonial Cup, while in 1992 Thunder Bay won the very first Colonial Cup with a Game Seven overtime win over St. Thomas.

"We feel that Thursday night will be a great night for all of our friends and fans to get together and watch the UHL decide a champion," said General Manager Robbie S. Nichols. "We are encouraging everyone to come early and sample some of Roundin' Third's new improved menu. Then stay to watch Game 7 on the Big Screen in their newly renovated bar and grill."
