Panthers Recall Wilson, Reassign Shaw; Pirates Sign Larraza to PTO

Portland, ME - Florida Panthers General Manager Dale Tallon today announced that the Panthers have recalled forward Garrett Wilson from the Portland Pirates. The Panthers have also reassigned forward Logan Shaw to Portland. In addition, the Portland Pirates announced the signing of forward Zac Larraza to a Professional Tryout Agreement.

Wilson, a 6-foot-2, 199 pound left wing from Barrie, Ontario, has played in all seven games for Portland this season, notching four assists and four points. The 24 year-old has played in five NHL games with Florida over the past two seasons. Selected by the Panthers in Fourth Round (107th Overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Wilson is in his fifth professional season.

He will join the Panthers in time for their next game on Wednesday night in Anaheim against the Ducks at 10:30 p.m., EST. Wilson also joins Rocco Grimaldi with Florida, who was recalled by the Panthers from the Pirates on Saturday afternoon. Grimaldi made his season debut with Florida that night at the BB&T Center against the Washington Capitals.

Shaw, a 6-foot-3, 204 pound right wing from Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, made his NHL debut on Friday night with the Panthers against the Boston Bruins at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida. Shaw has played in five games for Portland so far this season. The 23 year-old has two goals and two points, both scored on the power play in the Pirates' home opening 3-2 victory over the Hershey Bears on October 17.

Shaw was drafted by Florida in the Third Round (76th Overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

Larraza, a 6-foot-2, 200 pound forward from Scottsdale, Arizona, joins the Pirates from the Manchester Monarchs of the ECHL. The 22 year-old has played three games for Manchester, scoring two goals and one assist for three points.

The rookie forward turned pro after playing a four-year NCAA Division I career for the University of Denver Pioneers. Originally drafted by the Phoenix Coyotes in the Seventh Round (196th Overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Larraza attended rookie camp with the Panthers this fall before joining Manchester.

Both Shaw and Larraza will join the Pirates in time for their game Wednesday night against the Utica Comets at 7:00 p.m. from the Utica Memorial Auditorium.
