VANCOUVER - The Vancouver Warriors fell in their home opener to Panther City Lacrosse Club 11-7, but there were still some good takeaways from the game. Head coach Curt Malawsky thought his team had good chances inside, but Panther City goalie, Nick Damude made some solid saves.

"I think we have to shoot a little bit better but I thought Nick [Damude] was good and when we weren't scoring out the front door we started pushing the ball in transition and we had some good chances and Reid [Bowering] got one and we had some good looks and then he got one later but it's just kind of the tail of the tape is that our [righties] were 0 for 22 and it's not because of lack of effort but we need production out of both sides of the floor," Malawsky said.

Vancouver had a strong start on both ends of the floor, taking a 3-1 lead into the second quarter. Panther City went on a three-goal run in the second and took a one-goal lead at the half and never looked back.

The Warriors won the special teams battle going two for three on the power play.

Forward Adam Charalambides and defender Reid Bowering each had two goals in the loss. Charalambides felt the team wavered from the process and systems they learned through training camp, and even with a couple points on the night, he's looking to get back on the floor and improve his game.

"Sinking my teeth into the systems and do my best to learn about timing and try to hit those righties right as they're opening up to cut. I can be a lot better and there's a couple moments in that game where I just wasn't disciplined and I just have to take that on myself and be accountable for that," Charalambides said.

Charalambides is going to take the next couple of weeks to get more reps with his teammates in practice and watch some film to get ready to take on the Georgia Swarm Saturday, December 16th at 7 p.m. at Rogers Arena.
