Hamilton, ON - Hamilton Police, in collaboration with the Toronto Rock and M.A.D.D., have teamed up for the Festive R.I.D.E. Lane Campaign that launched on Thursday afternoon right out front of FirstOntario Centre.
"We are very proud to partner with two organizations in the Hamilton Police and M.A.D.D. that do so much to help keep our communities safe, especially during the holiday season," said Rock captain Challen Rogers who was on site to hand out the exclusive vouchers to sober drivers at the campaign launch.
R.I.D.E. continues all year long. R.I.D.E. lanes are meant to deter and detect. Hamilton Police note the program is more of a deterrent and find the majority of drivers are compliant.
"Action speaks louder than words," stated Hamilton Police Public Information Officer Indy Bharaj. "Through our Festive R.I.D.E. campaign, we're giving away 'Buy One, Get One Free' vouchers to 1,000 drivers participating in R.I.D.E. programs. This initiative, made possible by our collaboration with the Toronto Rock, offers access to two thrilling games. Together, let's make sure our roads are safe."
During the 2022-23 Festive R.I.D.E. campaign, over 42,000 vehicles were stopped,65 Roadside Tests were conducted, resulting in 2 impaired charges and 2 alcohol warnings (3-day suspensions).
