Palm Beach Cardinals News Release
JUPITER, FL- After spotting the Vero Beach Dodgers a six run lead after an inning and a half, the Palm Beach Cardinals fought back and eventually came away with a 10-7 victory at Roger Dean Stadium.
Reliever Jose Garcia pitched 3 1/3 innings of one-run relief to allow the Cardinals back into the contest, after starter Nick Webber lasted only 1 2/3 innings, allowing six runs on eight hits. That's the second straight dismal start from the right-hander out of Central Missouri State.
The Palm Beach (30-30) offense started the long road back in the bottom of the second, scoring four runs while collecting only one hit. Vero Beach (23-37) starter Blake Johnson walked two batters in the inning and hit Terry Evans. Shortstop Tyler Greene provided the key hit of the inning, with a two run double to centerfield.
Johnson gave way to reliever Brent Leach (0-1), who gave up three unearned runs over his 2 2/3 innings to pick up the loss. The Dodgers committed a total of four errors on the night.
Cardinals' southpaw reliever Zach Zuercher (1-1) picked up the victory, tallying four outs, allowing only one hit and fanning two.
