Crystal Palace Baltimore News Release
May 28th 2009 - Baltimore, MD - Crystal Palace Baltimore play their eighth and final match during a busy month of May at 7:30pm tomorrow evening, Friday May 29. Their opponents are local rival Real Maryland who topped Palace 2-0 in their first regular season encounter on May 9 in Rockville. Former Baltimore striker Gary Brooks opened the scoring for the Monarchs that day. Palace will be looking to their newly signed Jamaican forward, Machel Millwood, to spark a lackluster offense and take all three points at UMBC Stadium.
Palace are back at home after a physical 1-1 draw on the road in Richmond last Saturday and a hard-fought 0-0 result at Western Mass on Tuesday, putting Baltimore in second spot in the standings with twelve points. Real Maryland are coming off a 1-0 defeat in Bermuda last Friday and currently sit in fifth, three points behind Palace but with four games in hand.
"We have to win our home games, no matter the opposition," stated Palace Baltimore Co-Manager Pete Medd. "Obviously there's an extra something with this game because of our geography, but at this stage, we've just got to pick up points at every turn."
Palace have no new injury worries. John Nusum is still awaiting the MRI on his knee, while Larry Mark, Wale Adelusimi and Alex Ughiovhe are all doubtful for Friday's match.
Live play-by-play commentary of the game is scheduled to be broadcast on the internet beginning at approximately 7:20pm. The link to the audio commentary will be posted on the Crystal Palace Baltimore website - http://www.crystalpalaceusa.com - shortly before the broadcast is due to begin.
