Billings Outlaws News Release

The Billings Outlaws are pleased to announce that two of their finest will be fighting for roster spots in the NFL next month.

Travonti "Tuff" Johnson and Eric McCain have both been invited to participate in Mini-camps, and pending on their performances, hope to be invited back for training camp.

Johnson, who has spent time on the New York Giants practice squad two separate times over the last three years, was notified Thursday afternoon of his invite.

"Even though it's just mini-camp, it's another chance for me to show what I can do," said Johnson, as he watched his teammates prepare for the Tri-Cities Fever on Thursday. "I am going in there to compete for a starting position, that's just the mentality I've always had."

Outlaws head coach Heron O'Neal believes Johnson has a future with the defending Super Bowl Champions.

"Tuff provides them with something that they desperately need at (free safety) with them not re-signing Darren Sharper," said O'Neal before Thursday's practice. "He's the prototypical free safety, has the ability to cover and can stop the run."

Wide receiver Eric McCain was invited to the Seattle Seahawks mini-camp.

"Eric is a great wide receiver and I wish him the best of luck in Seattle," said O'Neal. "He has been working his tail off at a bunch of workouts and it's finally paying off for him."

McCain played in seven games for the Outlaws last season, catching 14 passes for 126 yards and four touchdowns. For ticket information, call (406) 256-2422.
