Green Bay Blizzard News Release
The Arena Football2 League Office has announced the 2007 All- Arena First and Second Teams this week. Defensive Back Ronnie Amadi (5-10, 185, University of Kansas) was voted Second Team All-American Conference defensive back by the af2's coaches and media. Amadi, a first year player out of the University of Kansas, has provided shut down defense on some of the leagues top receivers all year long. Amadi's 36 pass break-ups and eight interceptions combine for the most passes defended in the league in 2007 (44 passes defended). Amadi also finished the regular season second on the team and 14th in the league in tackles with 85.5 total tackles.
Blizzard Defensive Back Stephen Cason also garnered some league wide recognition this week as he was named the af2's ADT Defensive Player of the Week. Cason (5-11, 210, College of William & Mary) was an impact player on defense for Green Bay in the team's 37-27 second round home playoff win against Louisville. The rookie from the College of William & Mary was a major factor in the defensive backfield with a game-high 10.5 tackles. Cason was especially stingy in the second half, stopping two consecutive Fire drives with interceptions. This is the first Defensive Player of the Week Award of Cason's career. He finished the regular season ranked fourth in the league in tackles with 113 and was second on the squad in interceptions (6) and pass breakups (17).
