Mississauga St. Michael's Majors News Release
TORONTO, ON â The Toronto St. Michael's Majors are pleased to announce that they will be Painting the Town Red in support of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario for the second season in a row. During the month of February, hearts will be sold at home games for a minimum donation of $2. Donors may honour loved ones by writing their name on the hearts, which will be posted throughout the St. Michael's College School Arena during the month-long campaign.
The initiative will culminate on Saturday, February 28th when a Heart & Stroke information booth will be set up and special puck-drop ceremony will be held. The Majors face off against the Brampton Battalion at 2:00 pm that day. The Majors' campaign goal is to raise $2,000, an increase over the $1,200 that was generated last season. All monies raised, will be donated to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Hearts can be purchased at the games through the volunteers making their way through the stands or at the sales table set up within the arena.
The Heart and Stroke Foundation leads the way towards greater understanding of the root causes of heart disease and stroke. The Foundation relies heavily on public donations to ensure vital heart and stroke research continues. They need your help! If you are interested in providing a donation or learning more about the Heart and Stroke Foundation, please visit their web site at www.heartandstroke.ca.
The Majors will visit the Kingston Frontenacs tomorrow night (February 6th â 7:30 pm). They will return home to face the Plymouth Whalers on Saturday, February 7th at 2:00 pm in their first February home game. Then, they will host the Saginaw Spirit on Sunday, February 8th at 2:00 pm.
