
Padres purchase contract of Beavers' Robinson

PORTLAND, Ore. - The San Diego Padres, parent club of the Portland Beavers, today purchased the contract of outfielder Kerry Robinson.
Robinson, 30, will be making his second appearance with the Padres this season after having played in 61 games, hitting .280 (21-for-75) with two home runs, three RBIs, 11 runs scored and eight stolen bases before being outrighted to Portland on July 4. Over 42 games with the Beavers, Robinson batted .306 (52-for-170) with two home runs, 20 RBIs and 25 stolen bases, which was tied for seventh in the Pacific Coast League at the time of the promotion.
Robinson was acquired from the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for outfielder Brian Hunter on March 29 and has batted .265 (173-for-654) with 21 doubles, 49 RBIs and 32 stolen bases over 426 games in the majors.
Also on Wednesday, the Padres recalled catcher Miguel Ojeda from his major league rehabilitation assignment and reinstated him from the 15-day disabled list. Ojeda, 29, completed a five-game rehab assignment with Portland on Monday, batting .263 (5-for-19) with two home runs and three RBIs. Ojeda, who was placed on the disabled list on Aug. 16 with a contusion to his left wrist, has a .248 batting average with six homers and 22 RBIs in 50 games with the Padres this season.
Additionally, the Padres recalled right-handed pitcher Antonio Osuna from his major league rehab assignment with Class A Lake Elsinore and reinstated him from the 15-day DL.
Major league rosters were expanded from 25 to 40 on Wednesday.
