Florida Fire Frogs News Release

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - Cristian Pache delivered two RBI doubles against the Bradenton Marauders on Friday, but the Florida Fire Frogs could not hold onto a 3-0 lead in a 5-4, eight-inning loss at Osceola County Stadium.

Pache (2x4, 2 2B, 2 RBI) started the scoring for the home team with his first run-scoring double in the second inning, plating Lucas Herbert (1x2, 2 R, BB) who began the frame with a walk. The 19-year-old capped off a two-run fourth with another RBI double, plating Isranel Wilson (1x3, R) to give Florida (14-18, 43-55) the 3-0 advantage.

Ian Anderson retired the first 13 batters he faced before running into trouble in the fifth. With one out in the frame, Bradenton (13-21, 48-51) pieced together three consecutive singles by Mitchell Tolman, Jason Delay and Brett Pope to cut the Fire Frogs' lead to 3-1. The Braves' third-ranked prospect settled down and struck out Casey Hughston and Garret Brown to retire the side with limited damage.

The 20-year-old started left the game with a chance for his third win of the season, allowing the one run on three hits and six strikeouts. The right-hander has not allowed more than two runs in a game since the Tampa Tarpons crossed the plate four times on May 25 (10 starts).

Justin Kelly took over to start the sixth inning and gave up a lead-off double to Jared Oliva. The southpaw allowed a single to Bligh Madris, moving Oliva to third with Madris taking second on the play. Kelly got a ground ball to first off the bat of Albert Baur, but Braxton Davidson's throw to the bag went through the pitcher's legs, allowing both runners to score to tie the game at three apiece.

The Marauders pushed across two runs against Dan Lietz (1-2) in the eighth without the benefit of a hit. With Baur at the plate, the reliever delivered a wild pitch to move the go-ahead run to third. Baur drew a free pass to put runners on the corners for Hunter Owen, who flew out to right.

With Tolmann at the dish, Herbert had a pitch go through his legs for a past ball, allowing Madris to score. Tolman drew the second walk of the inning in front of Jason Delay's fly out to left.

Brett Pope worked a walk to load the bases for Casey Hughston, leading to a run-scoring balk with the bases loaded for the second run of the inning.

The Fire Frogs got a run back against Angel German (1-2) with a sacrifice fly by Jordan Rodgers (1x3, RBI), but Garrison Schwartz (0x4) lined out to left to end the game.

Game two of the doubleheader was postponed due to rain, and will be made up as part of a twin bill on Saturday at Osceola County Stadium.

Florida will look to bounce back and snap the four-game losing streak in the double dip on Saturday against Bradenton. RHP Jeremy Walker (2-9, 4.35) takes the mound in the opener for the home team, with RHP Huascar Ynoa (0-0, --) making his High-A debut in the back end. LHP Blake Weiman (2-1, 5.57) will toe the rubber against Walker in game one, while RHP Dario Agrazal (0-0, 0.00) gets the call in game two. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m., with coverage starting at 3:15 p.m. with the Florida Fire Frogs Pre-game Show on the Florida Fire Frogs Broadcasting Network.

Saturday is a hurricane prep party at Osceola County Stadium, featuring innings of winning! Prizes include water coolers, Home Depot gift cards, and much more! Fans who donate a canned food will receive an extra raffle ticket for the grand prize, a generator!

Fans whose first names are listed on the 2018 hurricane names list will receive free admission at the box office (with valid photo identification). If the contests get rained out, all remaining home games will be free (must purchase ticket to July 28 game to be eligible).
