P-Rays Take 2-0 Series Lead

At Hunnicutt Field on July 16, the Princeton Rays came away with a win against the Kingsport Mets. They won 7-6 in ten innings. Kingsport scored first with a run in the 1st. They scored another in the 3rd, one in the 4th, one in the 6th, and two in the 8th. Princeton got on the board in the 3rd with one run. They scored two in the 5th, two in the 6th, one in the 7th, and one in the 10th. Armando Bastardo is credited with the win for the Rays. Witt Haggard takes the loss for the Mets.

The Princeton Rays are second in the Appalachian League East at 12-8. They are behind the Pulaski Yankees, who are 14-9. The Kingsport Mets, at 11-10, are second behind the Greeneville Astros, at 12-10, in the Appalachian League West.

The Mets scored first in the 1st inning off of a wild pitch by Brock Burke. In the top of the 3rd, Leon Canelon for Kingsport scored off of another wild pitch by Burke. In the bottom of the 3rd, Zac Law hit a home run to put the Rays on the board. Luis Ortega scored from a sacrifice fly by Amaldo Berrios for the Mets in the 4th inning. In the bottom of the 5th, David Olmedo-Barrera brought himself and Jose Rojas home by hitting a home run. This tied up the game. The Mets scored again in the 6th off of a home run by Patrick Mazeika. The Rays took the lead in the bottom of the 6th by scoring two runs. Angel Perez scored off of a double by Law. Landon Cray hit a single and brought Law home. Another run was put on the board for Princeton, in the bottom of the 7th, when Jose Rojas scored off of a wild pitch by Seth Davis. The Mets did not go away as they scored two runs in the top of the 8th. Mazeika and Ortega scored off of a single by Kevin Kaczmarski. The Rays put the game away in the 10th when Peter Maris scored the final run.
