Over 5,000 fans witness Maulers' first home game

Chrys Chukuma rushed for 138 yards and four touchdowns as the Montgomery Maulers (2-1) won their historic first-ever home game 41-30 over the SW Louisiana Swashbucklers (2-1) on Saturday, April 2.

David Philyaw recovered a fumble in the endzone for the second time in three games as the Maulers took a 21-0 lead midway through the first quarter. The Swashbucklers rallied to take a 30-28 lead in the third quarter, but the Maulers came back with a Chukuma touchdown run and two field goals by Kevin Jones. Montgomery's defense kept the Swashbucklers scoreless for the final quarter and a half.

5,104 fans attended the game at Garrett Stadium. The Maulers next game is Saturday, April 9 in St. Louis against the River City Rage. The game can be heard on WVAS 90.7 FM.
