North Iowa Outlaws News Release
For a second straight weekend the brooms came out at the North Iowa Ice Arena as the Outlaws down the Fairbanks Ice Dogs in a thriller that came up a few seconds short for the Ice Dogs. Fairbanks thought they had a goal at the buzzer, after Moss made three saves in the final seconds and time expired, with the Outlaws skated away with the victory 2-1 with rookie Kyle Politz picking up the game winning goal in the second period.
North Iowa got on the scoreboard 7:33 into the game when Shea Walters scored to extend his scoring streak to 6 games. Tyler Romasco and Ross Ring-Jarvi assisted on the goal, but it was a short leaved lead for North Iowa. :20 seconds later the Ice Dogs tied the game on the power play to end the first period at one a piece.
After back and forth in the second period, the Outlaws finally broke through when the "Three P" connected for the game winning goal. Jack Paul and Travis Peckskamp found Kyle Politz who scored the eventual game winner 16:31 into the second period. Down the stretch, both teams went back and forth with Fairbanks peppering Moss with shots down the stretch but the goaltender for St. Louis, Mo stopped 30 of 31 shots to pick up his fourth win in as many starts. The Outlaws improve to 6-1-1 and hold onto the top spot in the standings. The Outlaws are off next weekend, but return to home on Oct. 19th when they host the Springfield Jr. Blues.
