North Iowa Outlaws News Release
Mason City (IA) Success at an All-Star event doesn't guarantee anything but it sure doesn't do any damage and at the very least focuses a spotlight on certain abilities. For the North Iowa Outlaws' Brandon Brodhag (Brooklyn Park, MN) and Alex Carlson (Farmington, MN) they made sure to make the most of their recent opportunity at the second annual North American Hockey League Top Prospect Tournament earlier this week in Ann Arbor, MI.
Despite playing for a Central Division team which dropped two of three games, Brodhag and Carlson each finished the three-game event with a tournament high five points. All of Carlson's points came on assists, while Brodhag netted a tournament high four goals during an event which pitted each of the NAHL division's top "uncommitted" players against each other before countless collegiate scouts.
"Alex and Brandon did a great job during the games and made a few lasting impressions with the scouts who were there" said Outlaws' head coach Jeff Crouse who served as the Central Division's assistant coach. "There were a ton of great players in Michigan but any conversation can't be done without mentioning Brandon and Alex."
Along with Carlson and Brodhag, also representing the Outlaws were Jack Paul (Minnetonka, MN), Jon Crouse (Alexandria, MN) and Ryan Peltoma (Brainerd, MN). Paul and Peltoma had three and two assists respectively while Crouse was held off the board but was viewed by many to be the strongest defenseman on the team.
"All of the guys represented the Outlaws in the best possible way and I couldn't have been any prouder" added Crouse. "They had a chance to impress and did the best they all could.
The Central Division leading Outlaws play at home this weekend against Albert Lea on Saturday and Bismarck on Sunday.
The North Iowa Outlaws Hockey Club is in its fourth season as members of the North American Hockey League. The NAHL is the nation's largest Junior A hockey league and is now in its 33nd year of operation. For more information, visit northiowaoutlaws.com or call (641) 424-5468.
