(Chico, CA. August 5th, 2010) The Chico Outlaws are pleased to announce they have acquired pitcher Reed Dickert from the St. George Roadrunners in exchange for future considerations.
Born in Boston, MA, but growing up in Los Gatos, CA, Dickert played his college ball at Oklahoma City University before starting his pro career in 2006 with the Orange County Flyers.
In 13 starts for the Roadrunners this season, Dickert, 26, had compiled a 3-4 record with a 5.66 ERA. A hard throwing rightie, he has struck out 64 batters in 76.1 innings pitched in 2010 with St. George, walking only 25.
Having played the 2006 and 2007 seasons in Orange County, Dickert signed with the Milwaukee Brewers as a minor league free agent in 2008, spending the majority of the season at Class-A West Virginia. He spent last season in the American Association with the St. Paul Saints before coming back to the GBL this season with the Roadrunners.
Dickert is expected to move into the Outlaws' starting rotation immediately and was traveling to Chico on Thursday. He is expected to join his new teammates at Nettleton Stadium in advance of Friday night's game against the Calgary Vipers.
Chico opens up a three game series with the defending GBL champion Calgary Vipers this Friday night at Nettleton Stadium. Garret Holleran (6-2, 4.90) goes to the hill looking for his seventh win of the year and the Outlaws try to win their fifth game in a row opposite rightie Reggie Rivard of the Snakes.
