Oshawa, ON - The Erie Otters played a competitive game on the road against the Oshawa Generals but ran into good goaltending and special teams as the General took home a 4-1 win Wednesday night.

Christian Thomas and Scott Laughton each scored a power play goal for the Generals 37 seconds apart late in the first period to take a 2-0 lead into the first intermission.

The second period was mostly controlled by the Otters, who had plenty of opportunities to get on the board only to be denied by Dan Altshuller each time. The Generals added a goal courtesy of Jimmy McDowell late in the second, giving them a three-goal lead going into the third period.

Greg McKegg scored the only goal of the game for the Otters with 8:58 to go as he beat Altshuller on a breakaway with a shot off the blocker side post for his 11th goal of the season. Laughton picked up his second goal of the game late to ice the game for the Generals.

The Generals went two-for-eight on the power play and killed seven Otters power plays en route to their win.

The Otters continue on the road to Peterborough Thursday night to take on the Petes at 7:05 p.m. Fans can listen to all the action on Fox Sports Radio AM 1330 or online at OttersHockey.com (courtesy of the James H. Cross Company).
