
Otters, five others bid for Cup

TORONTO, Ontario â The Ontario Hockey League announced today that five OHL Member Teams, including the ERIE OTTERS, have filed their intention to bid to host the 2005 MasterCard Memorial Cup.
The Barrie Colts, Kitchener Rangers, London Knights and Sarnia Sting join the OTTERS on the short list. All five organizations will make presentations to the 2005 MasterCard Memorial Cup Site Selection Committee on April 21, 2004 in Toronto.
In recognition of the continued growth and increased requirements for hosting the MasterCard Memorial Cup tournament, the OHL Board of Governors amended the awarding process when it is hosted by the OHL. The successful host center will be announced during the week of May 3, 2004 and its delegates will travel to Kelowna, British Columbia for a site visit during the 2004 MasterCard Memorial Cup.
The 2005 MasterCard Memorial Cup Site Selection Committee is comprised of Paul Beeston, former CEO of Major League Baseball, Frank Bonello, Director of Central Scouting for the National Hockey League and Brian O'Neill, Consultant for the National Hockey League.
OHL Commissioner David Branch and League council Gord Kirke are non-voting members of the committee.

Cup
The OTTERS (23-18-6-3) return to action with a pair of home games Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Tullio Arena. Friday it's the OTTERS and the Plymouth Whalers (22-17-9-3) presented by Nextel. The first 1,000 fans into the game receive a free OTTERS' puck courtesy of Nextel. Saturday it's the OTTERS and the Saginaw Spirit (12-34-2-3) presented by the PA Lottery. The first 1,000 adults into the game receive a free Bonus Bucks Tickets courtesy of the PA Lottery. Tickets for both games are available at all Erie area TicketMaster locations as well as the Erie Civic Center Box Office.
