Brandon McBride Named Canadian Hockey League Player of the Week

Toronto - The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Oshawa Generals right winger Brandon McBride is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday February 1 after scoring five goals and two assists for seven points in three games.

McBride scored in Oshawa's 5-4 overtime win over the Erie Otters on January 30. He had three goals, including the game-winner, and two assists in a 6-4 win over the Belleville Bulls on January 31 and finished the week with Oshawa's only goal in a 2-1 loss to the Kitchener Rangers on February 1. The 19-year-old Whitby native leads the Generals with 22 goals and 40 points in 45 games this season.

Ryan Hollweg of the Medicine Hat Tigers was the WHL player of the week after scoring five goals and three assists for eight points in four games. Yannick Tifu of the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies scored three goals and seven points in three games and was the QMJHL offensive player of the week while Val d'Or Foreurs goaltender Maxime Daigneault was the QMJHL defensive player of the week after posting a 2-1-0 record, along with a 1.96 goals against average and .941 save percentage in three games.
