
Otters acquire Berti and Nasby

The Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League announced today that they have acquired Adam Berti and Bret Nasby from the Oshawa Generals in exchange for Eric Regan, Brett MacLean and two OHL Priority Selections.
Berti, a 6-foot-3 forward and brother of former Otters member Chris Berti (2000-2002), was second in Generals scoring at the time of the trade with 16 goals and 18 assists for 34 points in 23 games this season. The 19 year-old Oshawa, Ontario native and former first round OHL Priority Selection (sixth overall in 2002) was selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the third round (68th overall) of the 2004 National Hockey League Entry Draft. In 170 career OHL games Berti has scored 59 goals and 78 assists for 137 points and 137 minutes in penalties.
Nasby, a defenseman who stands 6-foot-3, has a career-high five goals and nine assists for 14 points in 20 games this season to lead all Oshawa defenders. The third-year veteran was selected by the Florida Panthers in the fifth round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft (152nd overall) and was a fourth round selection of the Generals in the 2002 OHL Priority Selection. In 142 career games Nasby has nine goals and 29 assists for 38 points and 154 minutes in penalties.
MacLean, selected 11th overall by the Otters in the 2004 OHL Priority Selection, played in 81 games with for the Otters scoring 10 goals and 21 assists. MacLean, a 16 year-old forward left the club in early November due to personal reasons, had three goals and five assists in 13 games this season.
Regan, a Whitby, Ontario native and the Otters third round choice (51st overall) in 2004, played a total of 86 games as a member of the Otters scoring two goals and five assists.
The second-year defender had three assists in 25 games this season. As part of the deal the Otters also sent a second round OHL Priority Selection in 2006 and 2007 to the Generals.
The Otters (10-12-3-1) return to action with a pair of home games this weekend. Friday it's the Otters and the Barrie Colts (18-8-1-1) at 7:30 p.m. Saturday the PA Lottery and Country Fair presents the Otters and the Guelph Storm (17-9-0-1) at 7:30 p.m. Both games can be heard live on SportsRadio 1330 The FAN beginning with the pre-game show at 7:15 p.m. Saturday's game can be seen live on the Image Sports Network (Adelphia Channel 12 Times Warner Channel 20). Hamot Hockey Night begins live at 7:30 p.m.
