Orrin Hergott and Ryan Rutz sign with the Columbus Cottonmouths

COLUMBUS, Ga. - Orrin Hergott and Ryan Rutz will be returning to the Columbus Cottonmouths for the 2006-2007 season. This will mark the third season playing for the Snakes for both players.

Center Orrin Hergott started with the Cottonmouths in the 2004-2005 season, which he finished with 99 points, 43 goals, and 56 assists. He capped off the 2005-2006 season with 42 points, 19 goals, and 23 assists. "He is one of the fastest guys in the league," stated Coach Jerome Bechard about Hergott. "He is also a good guy off the ice and we need that kind of support on our team. I hope to see him bring the same energy back this season." Hergott hails from Humboldt, Saskatchewan.

Left wing Ryan Rutz is also added to the roster of returning players. The Red Deer, Alberta native made his Snakes debut in the 2004-2005 season, which led to a total of 25 points, 17 goals, and 8 assists, helping the team to win the SPHL President's Cup that year. For the 2005-2006 season, Rutz finished out the year with 64 points, 37 goals, and 27 assists. Coach Bechard is excited to have Rutz back to the team as well. "He is our unsung hero. He brought home close to 40 goals last season. He is a bolt of explosion that I was not expecting. He brought in big numbers last season and we are ready to make a repeat for this season."
