Orlando Pride News Release
ORLANDO, Fla. - Nearing the mid-point of the NWSL regular-season, the Orlando Pride have signed defender Kylie Strom to a two-year contract with an option for an additional season, it was announced today.
"Kylie is a player who will give us an added threat down the left side of the pitch and help us push toward our goals both this year and beyond," Orlando Pride General Manager Ian Fleming said. "We've watched her development during her time in Europe with a keen interest and her experience in the Champions League, as well as domestically in the Czech Republic and Spain, will help her settle into the rigors of the NWSL. We know she's excited to be back stateside and in Orlando, and we're excited to have her become a member of the Pride."
Strom, 29, joins the Pride from Atlético Madrid, where she spent nearly two years after joining the Spanish side in August 2019. In that span, Strom registered 29 appearances, scoring two goals, including the game-winner against à ½FK Spartak Subotica to advance Atlético to the next round of the UEFA Women's Champions League in October 2019.
Prior to joining Atlético, Strom spent two years with Sparta Prague after signing with the Czech side in August 2017, scoring 19 goals in 36 appearances through two seasons. In her first year with Sparta, Strom helped the side to their first Czech First Division title in five years along with winning the Czech Women's Cup, earning MVP honors for the Cup final. She would follow suit the following campaign, with Sparta winning both trophies once more.
The 2021 NWSL season will mark Strom's return to the league after spending time with the Boston Breakers from 2016-17. Strom signed with the Breakers in August 2016, featuring seven times before she was released in June of the following year.
A graduate of Boston University, Strom made 86 appearances for the Terriers from 2010-13. In that time, she found the back of the net 14 times while earning NSCAA All-Region, All-Patriot League, Patriot League All-Tournament Team and America East All-Rookie Team honors throughout her four-year career.
