ORLANDO - On Tuesday the Orlando Predators added two-time ArenaBowl champion Richard Clebert (6'1, 315, USF) along with former Olympia High School and Florida Tuskers wide receiver Maurice Price (6'1, 200, Charleston Southern) for the 2012 season.
Clebert played a huge role on the defensive line the past two Arena Football League seasons for championship squads in Spokane (ArenaBowl XXIII) and Jacksonville (ArenaBowl XXIV).
"The importance of having an experienced and quality nose guard in the AFL is so important," Preds coach Bret Munsey said. "He's been the starting nose guard on the last two ArenaBowl title teams and we're hoping to make it three in a row for him this season."
Clebert started the 2011 season with the Tampa Bay Storm before joining the Sharks by way of a trade with the Milwaukee Mustangs on May 25. He finished the season with two sacks, two blocked kicks, a safety and fumble recovery in seven games.
In 2010, Clebert finished with 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble in 15 regular season games before providing a major impact in ArenaBowl XXIII. He recovered a fumble in the first half of that game and took it back 35 yards to set up a Spokane touchdown in the Shock's win over Tampa Bay.
At USF, Clebert tallied 74 tackles (15.5 for loss) and 4.5 sacks in 37 career games. He went on to play in the CFL with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and also spent time in camp with the NFL's New Orleans Saints. Clebert was drafted by the UFL's New York Sentinels in the league's inaugural draft.
Price, who played high school football in the Orlando area with Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson, helped the Florida Tuskers reach the UFL's title game in 2010 while playing for former Preds coach Jay Gruden. He finished third on the team in receiving with 16 catches for 172 yards in eight games.
Munsey is confident his experience will transfer over well into the indoor game.
Price recently spent time in camp with the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he caught five passes for 84 yards in three preseason games. He also had stints with the NFL's Kansas City Chiefs, New England Patriots, San Francisco 49ers, Baltimore Ravens and Washington Redskins, along with the CFL's Calgary Stampeders.
