Norfolk Tides News Release
The Orioles announced Wednesday afternoon that they have selected the contract of RHP KAM MICKOLIO (pronounced Mick-uh-LIE-oh) from Triple-A Norfolk. To make room for Mickolio on the 40-man roster, the Orioles have transferred RHP MATT ALBERS (right shoulder inflammation) from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list.
Mickolio, 24, posted a 1.50 ERA (18.0IP/3ER) with two saves in 15 games for Norfolk since his promotion from Double-A Bowie on July 7. He struck out 20 and walked seven in his 18 innings with the Tides. At Double-A Bowie, Mickolio was 2-1 with a 4.70 ERA (38.1IP/20ER) and one save in 28 games.
Mickolio, who will wear number 31, was obtained from the Seattle Mariners along with LHP GEORGE SHERRILL, OF ADAM JONES and two minor leaguers as part of the trade that sent LHP ERIK BEDARD to Seattle on February 8, 2008. He was originally drafted by the Mariners in the 18th round of the 2006 First Year Player Draft.
