Myrtle Beach Thunderboltz News Release

FLORENCE, SC – The Pee Dee Pride announced today that the team has agreed to terms with the original Paws on a contract for the 2004-2005 season. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The original Paws returns to the Lion's Den for this season after serving a sabbatical on an African safari during the 2004-2005 season. He is looking forward to entertaining Pride fans at home games once again this season.

"Last year was tough for me," Paws said through an interpreter. "While I did immensely enjoy my time on the African safari, I missed all of my dear friends at the Lion's Den. The ownership and front office staff have worked hard during the off-season to bring excitement back to Pride games, and I am thrilled to be part of it once again!"

"This was one of the toughest negotiations the Pride has had to go through in a long time," Pride General Manager Jack Capuano, Jr. said. "But, in the end, it turned out to be successful. We are all thrilled that the original Paws will be back in the Lion's Den when we open the season next month."

Opening Weekend 2004 is right around the corner! Friday, October 22, the Pride host the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies at 7:30 p.m. Fans are encouraged to come to the game early to tailgate in the civic center parking lot while listening to the music of local band Paradigm. All fans in attendance will receive a free rally towel courtesy of Wachovia Bank.

On Saturday, October 23, the Pride host the Augusta Lynx, also at 7:30 p.m. The first 2,500 fans in attendance will receive a Pride magnetic schedule courtesy of SCE&G. Following the game, the Pride in conjunction with Archadeck of the Pee Dee; BB&T; Griggs, Floyd & Grantham; and Micky Finn's present the Blue Dogs in concert.

Group tickets for all Pride home games are now available. In addition to receiving discounted tickets, groups of 15 or more are also eligible for group raffles, and will have their name announced over the PA system and printed in the game-day program. For more information, or to reserve your tickets today, call the Pride office at (843) 669-7825.
