Tucson Padres News Release
Tucson Padres Opening Night is here and it begins an eventful eight-game homestand at Kino Stadium. Thursday, April 5 is our first Budweiser Thirsty Thursday, with discounted beverages priced at only $1.50. Fans will marvel at the new Bottoms Up beer cups, 16 ounces in size, which fill from the bottom up. There is more information on Thursday and all games this homestand below.
Also, the Tucson Padres would like to recognize Tucson Troop Support, the winners of our Opening Night Facebook charity contest. Tucson Troop Support accumulated 421 votes, narrowly beating Chicanos Por La Causa by one vote on a Padres Facebook poll. Tucson Troop Support will throw out the Opening Pitch on Opening Night, appear on the Padres radio broadcast, receive 100 tickets to the game and have a table set up on the concourse. The mission of Tucson Troop Support is to enhance the lives of our local Military Troops and their Families.
Chicanos Por La Causa will receive the same benefits and throw out the first pitch before Saturday's game at Kino Stadium.
"We had great efforts from the 10 charities that entered and from all the fans who voted. With two charities finishing so close in the voting, we want to honor both of them," said Mike Feder, Tucson Padres Vice President and General Manager.
