Ontario Fury News Release
The Ontario Fury, Driven by Mark Christopher Chevrolet, completed a three-day, three-game sweep on the road, defeating the Chicago Mustangs 7-5 Sunday at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Ill. Ontario never trailed Sunday, as Jayme Kapinos opened the scoring 30 seconds into the game en route to a 3-2 first quarter lead. After the Mustangs tied the game at three, the Fury took advantage of power play time to take the lead before half. Already with a man-advantage, the Mustangs' Ephraim Beard was ejected, giving the Fury a 5-on-3 advantage they would capitalize on, as Tino Nunez scored with the two extra players, then Leonardo de Oliveira fired a perfect shot into the upper corner with the remaining power play, giving the Fury a 5-3 lead at the half. De Oliveira led the Fury's attack again Sunday, scoring three times, including icing the game at 7-5 with a goal against the sixth attacker with 2:13 remaining in the game. He also had an assist, as the Fury also got two goals from Maicon de Abreu as well, Chicago got a two-point performance from Juan de la Cruz, as the Fury held the Mustangs' leading scorer, Taylor Bond, to only one goal on six shots. Ontario now returns home for a few days of training before heading the Turlock for Friday night's regular season finale with their playoff destiny in its own hands. A win at Turlock Indoor Soccer on Friday, and the Fury will clinch second place and the final spot in the Ron Newman Cup playoffs. A loss Friday, and the Fury would need the Tacoma Stars to lose to the San Diego Sockers on Friday. Should the Fury advance to the playoffs, Ontario will host Game 2 of the Pacific Division series against the San Diego Sockers at 7:30 p.m. March 14 at Citizens Business Bank Arena. Game 1 of the series will be at 5 p.m. March 12 at San Diego's Valley View Casino Center. Tickets on sale date will be announced at a later date. Season tickets for the Fury's 2017-18 season are on sale now.
