Ontario Fury News Release
The Ontario Fury, Driven by Mark Christopher Chevrolet, have added three players to its roster in time to play in this weekend's two-game, two-day road trip to Northern California.
Ontario has signed veteran free agent midfielder Bronil Koochie, recalled Jose Flores from Toros Mexico and acquired defender Warren Ukah from Las Vegas in exchange for cash considerations.
To make room on the Fury's roster, midfielder Zach Bautista was assigned to Toros Mexico.
"To get players of Bronil and Warren's capabilities at this point in the season will provide us the extra boost we need for our push to the playoffs," said Bernie Lilavois, the Fury's coach and president. "Jose has been making great strides with Toros, and with the back-to-back situation this weekend, it will be the perfect time for him to get a chance to help us out as we are poised on the cusp of contending for the Pacific Division title."
Koochie (his name is pronounced Bro-neel Koo-chewy ) is in his fourth season in the league, having started with his hometown team, the Turlock Express. In 2012-13, he posted 24 goals for the Express. Since, he has played for Dallas, Bay Area, Turlock and Las Vegas. The Legends released him Jan. 16. He has one goal and two assists in nine games this season.
"I'm excited to be part of this organization, and the chance to participate in its current playoff run," Koochie said. "I've always enjoyed playing at Citizens Business Bank Arena and the passionate Fury fans. I have great memories of one of my goals last season with Dallas, and I'm hoping to make more memories over the coming weeks."
Ukah, originally from Atlanta, Ga., started the season with Oxford City FC of Texas before being dealt to Las Vegas. In seven games with Las Vegas, Ukah has five goals.
Ontario will take to the road this weekend with games 7:30 p.m. Friday at Turlock and 7 p.m. Saturday at Sacramento. Friday's game will be broadcast in the Inland Empire on Fox Sports 1350, with Saturday's game broadcast on Newstalk 1440. The game can also be seen on GoLiveSportsCast.com, the official broadcast partner of the Major Arena Soccer League.
The Fury will return home Feb. 7 to take on the Sacramento Surge, before hosting the San Diego Sockers in the team's final home game of the season on Feb. 12. The Feb. 7 game will be Scout Night, with local scout troops in attendance, while Feb. 12 will be Fan Appreciation Night, with prizes being given out through the night. The first 1,000 people in attendance will also receive a cup from Scheu Family YMCA of Upland, the official training home of the Ontario Fury.
