Great Falls Voyagers News Release
Great Falls, MT - Tonight the Great Falls White Sox were defeat by the Billings Mustangs 11-10 at Centene Stadium. James Casey (1-4) took the loss in relief as he worked three innings, allowing two runs on two hits. The win went to Sam Lecure (5-1) as he worked one inning, allowing one run on three hits. The save went to Abe Woody (12) as worked the ninth, allowing two hits.
Great Falls took an early lead on a Francisco Hernandez two RBI double to put the Sox up 2-0. The Sox would then increase the lead in the third inning as one run came in on an error before RBI hits by JJ Schmit and Javier Castillo.
In the Mustangs half of the fourth Chris Denove had an RBI hit before a two run homer by JD Roberts made the score 5-3. However, the Sox would answer back as they would score three more times in their half of the fourth. Two more errors aided the Sox in the inning. The only RBI went to Manny Rodriguez as the Sox went up 8-3.
In the top of the sixth inning, Billings was able to get an RBI single by Denove before a two run double by Roberts. Another run scored on an error to make it an 8-7 game. It was 9-7 when Castillo singled home Rodriguez in the bottom of the sixth.
In the top of the seventh inning, Mayker Sandoval had an RBI single before a three run home run by Jay Bruce put Billings up for the first time in the game 11-9. Then in the Sox half of the seventh Matt Tribble's sac fly brought home Rolando Acosta to bring the Sox closer. Unfortunately, the Sox could not tie the game, and they would fall 11-10.
Tomorrow night the Sox will play the second game of a four game set with the Billings Mustangs. The starters for the game are: Noe Rodriguez (LHP) for Great Falls and Jeff Stevens (RHP) for Billings. Game time is at 4:00pm and can be heard on 560AM-KMON starting at 3:45.
