
Once Again, No Goals to Show for Hard Work

GUELPH, ON â A recurring 2004-05 theme reared its ugly head for the Toronto St. Michael's Majors this evening in Guelph. Despite outshooting the Storm 32-18, the Majors weren't able to connect for a goal and fell 3-0. The loss snaps the Majors 4-game unbeaten streak and moves their record to 11-19-4-2.
Guelph produced one goal each period. In the 1st, Mike McLean connected at 8:21, on the power-play, with Lubomir Stach and Mark Versteeg-Lytwyn drawing the assists. In the 2nd frame, Ryan Card tallied another man-advantage goal for the home squad, at 14:54, off of Mark O'Leary and Daniel Girardi feeds. Finally, Kyle Spurr popped home an empty-netter at 18:26 of the 3rd period, with Girardi and Andy Hyvarinen providing the support.
Justin Peters made 16 saves for Toronto while Guelph's Adam Dennis stopped all 32 sent his way. The Majors were 0 for 5 on the power-play while the Storm were 2 for 2. The game's three stars were Dennis (1st), McLean (2nd) and Girardi (3rd).
The Majors complete their 3-game road trip by visiting the Brampton Battalion tomorrow afternoon (Friday, December 31st) at 3:00 pm. They will then return home to host the Saginaw Spirit on Sunday, January 2nd at 2:00 pm. Both games will be webcast at www.stmichaelsmajors.com.

Notes:
The Majors will be without Associate Coach James Boyd and rookie forward Matt Halischuk through the weekend as they represent Team Ontario at the Under-17 World Hockey Challenge, currently being played in Lethbridge, Alberta. Yesterday evening, their squad defeated Germany 6-1 with Halischuk producing an assist. They will face off against Canada's Team Western tomorrow.
