(Mississauga, ON - ) The Sixth Man of the Year award will be staying in Mississauga as the National Basketball League of Canada announced today that Power guard, Omar Strong, has won the Sixth Man of the Year award. Strong came off the bench 18 games and provided instant offense for the Power. Strong had season averages of 18.6ppg, 2.8rpg & 2.65apg.

Head Coach Kyle Julius believed Strong would be an impact player for the team before the season began - "Omar 's play this season was tremendous. His competitive spirit and his ability to make big shots was huge," stated Julius, "At his size, he scored the ball better than anyone in the league. I knew Omar was something special when I first saw him and he proved me right. The way he fought and battled to make plays was unrelenting and he is going to have a great pro career."

Strong also shattered multiple records for the Power and the NBLC during the season. On January 11th, 2015 against the Island Storm, Strong came off the bench to set a single-game regular season 44 points for the Power. Strong converted on 11 three pointers in the game, a single-game record in the NBLC, surpassing Devin Sweetney's 10 three pointers in the 2012-13 season. The 6'1 guard knocked down a league record 148 three pointers this season, becoming the Power's all-time franchise leaders in three pointers made in the process.

"This award means a lot to myself and my family," stated Strong, "Coach Kyle Julius really saw something in me and I could not let him, my family or myself down. Coach really thought coming off the bench would help our team and I took it as a challenge to be the best 6th man in the league!"
