Omar Daley and Shane Crawford called up to Jamaica Men's National Team

Charleston, SC. Charleston Battery midfielder Omar Daley and defender Shane Crawford have both been called in to the Jamaican Men's National Team for two upcoming international matches in the UK. Jamaica plays two FIFA World Cup hopefuls; Ghana on May 29 & England on June 3. Daley and Crawford's participation in these games will mean that both players miss the next two Battery matches vs Atlanta on May 27 and June 3.

The June 3 game versus England is England's final fixture before the World Cup; the match will be played at Old Trafford, the home of English Premiership side Manchester United and is sold-out (68,000).

Daley and Crawford are in their first season with the Charleston Battery; both players have started each Battery game so far.

Daley named to the USL First Division Team of the Week

Jamaican international Omar Daley has been named to the USL First Division Team of the Week following a strong display in the Battery's 1-0 loss to the Puerto Rico Islanders last Saturday night at Blackbaud Stadium.

Daley was a constant threat on the right side of the field and earned Team of the week honors despite the fact that the Battery lost the game. This is Daley's second consecutive appearance on the USL First Division Team of the Week.

Charleston Battery vs Atlanta Silverbacks

The Charleston Battery concludes its five game home-stand this Saturday night at Blackbaud Stadium with a match versus longtime rival the Atlanta Silverbacks; gates open at 6:30 PM - kick off is set for 7:30 PM. Battery to train at Patriots Point this Thursday

Coach Anhaeuser and his team will train at Patriots Point on Thursday from 6 PM - 7 PM; the satellite training sessions coincides with Mount Pleasant Soccer Club's Select Fall registration. The training session is open to the public and the Battery players will be available after training to sign autographs.
