In 2005, the Vancouver Whitecaps hosted Sunderland from the English Premiership at Swangard Stadium. The game was a great success as the Whitecaps won 3-0 in front of a record crowd of almost 7,000 fans. This summer the Whitecaps want to build off last year's successful event by hosting a major international soccer tournament. The inaugural Whitecaps Nations Cup will be held July 19-23 and will feature the Whitecaps Men's team, along with the Indian National Team, Chinese U-20 National Team, and Cardiff City from the English League Championship. The tournament will be a celebration of the world's game and Vancouver's multicultural diversity. The complete Nations Cup schedule, including the Championship Doubleheader is as follows: July 19 - 7pm Whitecaps vs. Indian National Team
July 21 - 7pm Cardiff City FC vs. Chinese U-20 National Team
July 23 - 4pm Consolation Final
