
Olmo Rosario named 2007 Can-Am League Player of the Year

DURHAM, NC - Nashua Pride SS Olmo Rosario has been selected by the ten league field managers and media representatives as the 2007 Can-Am League Player of the Year as announced by the league today.
Rosario had an incredible 2007 season for playoff bound Nashua. The Dominican Republic native hit .362 in 88 games with 12 home runs, 59 RBI, 133 hits and 25 stolen bases. He had a slugging percentage of .550, along with 25 doubles, 57 runs scored and 41 extra base hits. Rosario finished first in the Can-Am in hits, second in batting average, third in slugging percentage and tied for third in doubles and extra base hits. He was a model of consistency both at home and on the road as he hit .370 at Holman Stadium while only dropping to .355 on the road.
The 27-year-old Rosario was signed as a nondrafted free agent by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays on New Year's Day of 2001. He spent two seasons in the Rays system playing for the Devil Rays DSL in 2001 and Princeton/Hudson Valley in 2002. He played with Rockford of the Frontier League in 2004 and 2005 before heading to San Angelo of the United League last season. Rosario was a career .306 hitter coming into this year with Nashua.
