TODAY'S OPPONENT:

The Tucson Sidewinders are the Triple-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Last year, Tucson won the Pacific South Division with a 91-53 record. They won both the PCL Championship and the Bricktown Showdown.

VS. TUCSON:

The RedHawks won the season series 3-1 in 2006. RedHawks lost first game of series, then won three straight, including two shutout wins. RedHawk hitters hit .305 vs. Tucson pitching, and the RedHawk pitchers had a 1.50 ERA vs. the Sidewinders.

TODAY'S GAME:

This is game 36 of the season. It's the second game of a four-game series and the second of four meetings between Oklahoma and Tucson this season.

LAST GAME:

The RedHawks scored five in the third as the defeated Tucson 7-3 last night. Starter Bruce Chen earned the win, allowing one unearned run in five innings of work.

PITCHING MATCHUP:

The RedHawks send John Koronka to the mound for the seventh time this season. Koronka won his last start Tuesday at Las Vegas, allowing two runs on nine hits in seven innings of work. Yusmeiro Petit gets the call for the Sidwinders. Petit was 0-2 with a 9.82 ERA vs. the RedHawks in 2006.

HOMERS ARE GRAND:

The RedHawks have found the power this month with 14 home runs after Marlon Byrd's grand slam last night. The RedHawks have hit grand slams in back-to-back games. The RedHawks trail only Round Rock (16) in home runs hit as a team in the month of May after finishing last with nine in 24 April games. The RedHawks improved to 13-3 when they hit a home run.

BYRD FLYING HIGH:

Byrd extended his hit streak to nine games, going 3-for-5 with a HR, four RBIs and two runs scored last night. During the streak he is hitting .500 (22-44) with six doubles, four home runs, 16 RBIs and 13 runs scored. Byrd is tied for second in the league with 47 hits and fourth with a .367 average.

TUGGING HIS WEIGHT:

Since taking over the starter's job at second base, Tug Hulett has hit safely in 14 of 18 games after going 1-for-4 with a run scored last night. He is hitting .389 (28-72) with one homer, 15 RBIs and 16 runs scored during the last 18 games.

DREW MEYER:

Drew Meyer has an eight-game hitting streak dating back to April 15. In the last eight games Meyer has played, he is hitting .423 (11-26) with an RBI.

LOOKING FOR SIX:

Koronka has thrown four straight quality starts dating back to April 22. The RedHawks are 13-2 when the starter makes it through the sixth inning this season and 6-14 when starter goes less than six.

BRICKTOWN SHOWDOWN:

The Triple-A Championship Game will be held Sept. 18 at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark. The champions of the PCL and IL will play in a one-game championship.

and Byrd have each reached base safely in 12 straight road games dating back to April 9th at Nashville...The RedHawks lead the PCL in hitting for the month of May with a .329 team batting average...RedHawks have hit a least one double in nine consecutive games dating back to April 3...RedHawks have committed an error in three straight games.
