HEADLINES: RedHawks win wild one ... 2 position players pitch ... Burke with 3 doubles
TODAY'S OPPONENT: The Las Vegas 51s are the Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers. They have been a member of the Pacific Coast League since 1983. Last year, they were 57-86 and finished fourth in the PC South.
TODAY'S GAME: The RedHawks begin an eight-game, nine-day homestand against Las Vegas and Tucson . This is their 112th game, 52nd home game and first game against Las Vegas . Today's game begins a stretch where the RedHawks will play 20 of their next 28 games at home.
LAST GAME: The RedHawks scored four runs in the ninth inning to tie the game and then beat Las Vegas 7-6 with a run in the 11th. Two position players, Tom Gregorio and Adam Morrissey combined to pitch three shutout innings. Jamie Burke was three-for-four with three doubles and two RBIs. Miguel Ojeda, in his RedHawk debut, was two-for-four with three RBIs.
VS. LAS VEGAS: The RedHawks are 32-26 all-time against Las Vegas and 10-11 against them at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark. Las Vegas has not been to AT&T Bricktown Ballpark since 2003 when they were swept in a four-game series by the RedHawks. Las Vegas is 10-3 in its last four visits to Oklahoma City .
PITCHING MATCHUP: Starting pitcher R.A. Dickey makes his 14th start of the season for the RedHawks. He is 4-7 with a 6.44 ERA (52 ER/72.2 IP) as a starter and 1-0-1 with a 1.93 ERA (3 ER/14 IP) in three relief outings. He is 4-1-1 with a 2.78 ERA (10 ER/32.1 IP) in six home outings and 1-6 with a 7.45 ERA (45 ER/54.1 IP) in 10 road outings. Eric Stults starts for Las Vegas.
HART WATCH: First baseman Jason Hart has the second-most home runs in RedHawks history with 56. Scott Sheldon hit 57 in 1998 and 1999. Hart's last home run was a two-run homer July 30 at Tacoma off Cha-Seung Baek.
GREGORIO AND MORRISSEY: Catcher Tom Gregorio and infielder Adam Morrissey combined to pitch three shutout innings in last night's win. They became the first position players to pitch for the RedHawks since Cole Liniak 4/13/03 vs. Albuquerque .
STREAKERS: Catcher Jamie Burke is on a seven-game hit streak dating back to July 24. He is 13-for-29 (.448) with three doubles, three home runs and eight RBIs during the streak. Burke had three doubles Aug. 2 vs. Las Vegas, the first RedHawk with three doubles in a game since Ed Sprague 5/2/02 vs. Nashville.
JOAQUIN ARIAS: Shortstop Joaquin Arias has hits in nine of his last 11 games. In his last 11 games, he is 16-for-47 (.340) with five doubles, a triple and five RBIs.
CLOSE GAMES: Forty-six of Oklahoma 's 55 wins this season have come by four runs or less, including 25 one-run wins. Also, 42 of Oklahoma's 57 losses this season have come by four runs or less, including 17 by one run.
ONE-RUN WINS: The RedHawks lead the PCL in one-run wins with 25. Tucson is second with 23.
RADIO UPDATE: The RedHawks' flagship station for most games is KEBC 1340 AM. However, there are a few dates the flagship station will change due to scheduling conflicts. The RedHawks will be on AM 1000 KTOK Aug. 26. They will be on KFXY 1640 AM Aug. 20 and Sept. 3.
TRANSACTIONS: P Edinson Volquez (calf strain), P Ryan Bukvich (right elbow soreness) and OF Jason Botts (right hamate) have been placed on the DL.
DOT-DOT-DOTS: The RedHawks are 46-34 since Mike Boulanger took over as manager May 11 ... RedHawks pitchers have struck out 64 batters in the last six games.
