Oklahoma City Comets News Release
Oklahoma RedHawks starting pitcher R.A. Dickey threw a shutout their 2-0 win over the Las Vegas 51s Thursday at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City. It was the RedHawks' fasted nine-inning game of year, played in one hour, 52 minutes.
Dickey gave up two hits, walked one and struck out six in his second complete game of the year. He also had an eight-inning complete game April 20 at Memphis. The only other shutout of his career came for the Texas Rangers Aug. 20, 2003 at Detroit. He gave up six hits in that game.
It was the 10th complete game of Dickey's 10-year career and his ninth as a RedHawk.
He gave up a single to Oscar Robles to lead off the third inning and another to Robles with one out in the fifth. Dickey retired the last 14 batters he faced.
The RedHawks were led offensively by center fielder Adrian Brown, who went two-for-four with an RBI. The RedHawks scored both runs in the fifth inning on hits by second baseman Drew Meyer and Brown.
The RedHawks have now won three in a row and five in a row at home. They will face Las Vegas again at 7:05 p.m. Friday at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark. Derek Lee is scheduled to start for the RedHawks and Joel Hanrahan for Las Vegas.
