
Okicki Named First Star

Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings, proud members of the North American Hockey League's North Division, announce that goaltender Alex Okicki has been named as the Combat Hockey First Star of the week in the NAHL.
The eighteen-year-old rookie dominated a week that saw three goaltenders selected as the stars of the week in the NAHL. He started two contests, winning both, and only allowing one goal. His 28 save performance on Sunday against the Jamestown Ironmen was enough to earn Okicki his second career shutout.
Okicki (13-7-2) was 2-0-0 during the week, registering wins versus the Traverse City North Stars and Jamestown Ironmen respectively. In the victory against Traverse City, Okicki stopped 38 shots from the opposition. For the week, his goals against average was a miniscule .50 and a save percentage at a whopping .984%
Okicki has won his last four starts, and ranks second in the NAHL with a .924 save percentage.
The Jr. K-Wings return to their home ice at the Borgess Health Rink inside Wings West on Saturday, February 25th at 2 p.m. against the St. Louis Bandits.
