Today's Game: The Oklahoma City Comets play the Las Vegas Aviators in the series finale as well as for the final time in 2026 at 6:05 p.m. at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark...The Comets have won four games in a row for their longest winning streak since July 8-12 (4 G) and have already clinched a series victory. A win today would give the Comets their second-longest winning streak of the season after they won a season-best seven games in a row May 14-21.

Last Game: The Oklahoma City Comets built a five-run lead before hanging on to beat the Las Vegas Aviators, 6-5, Saturday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Las Vegas jumped in front, 1-0, in the second inning, but the Comets took the lead with two runs in the third inning, scoring on a RBI single from Zach Ehrhard followed by a Ryan Ward sacrifice fly. The Comets added on four more runs over the following two innings. Noah Miller and Ehrhard each tallied RBI singles, and Ward hit a two-run blast in the fifth inning make it a 6-1 advantage. The Aviators scored two runs with two outs in the sixth inning and later made it a one-run game in the seventh inning with a two-run homer from Max Muncy, but following Muncy's home run, the Comets pitching staff retired the final nine batters of the game.

Today's Probable Pitcher: Christian Romero (8-3) makes his 22nd appearance (17th start) of 2026, looking to rebound in his second start of the series...During the series opener Tuesday, Romero tossed 4.1 innings with five runs, six hits and four walks allowed, along with a home run and hit by pitch, as well as five strikeouts in a no decision. Romero matched his career high in walks...Among qualified PCL pitchers, Romero ranks tied for second in wins, third in WHIP (1.39), third in BAA (.268), tied for fourth in ERA (4.50) and innings (98.0) and tied for eighth in strikeouts (76)...Romero has set a career high in starts while matching a career best in wins. He is currently 5.0 innings shy of matching his career high of 103.0...The Dodgers signed Romero as a minor league free agent Jan. 15, 2021 out of Mexico and he split last season between OKC and High-A Great Lakes.

Against the Aviators: 2026: 6-5 2025: 8-4 All-time: 84-82 At OKC: 36-39

Oklahoma City plays its final series of the season against the PCL's first-half champions and reigning league champions, meeting for the only time at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark...The two sides last met March 31-April 5 with the Aviators taking the series, 4-2, notching wins in four of the last five games...Even though OKC lost the series, James Tibbs III was named PCL Player of the Week, going 10-for-25 with five home runs and a double, including a three-homer game April 4...Las Vegas clinched the 2026 PCL first-half crown with a 44-29 record and will have a chance to defend last season's league championship - the franchise's first league title since 1988...The Comets won the 2025 season series against the Aviators, 8-4, winning two of three games at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark...This marks the first scheduled six-game series between the two teams in Oklahoma City since 2023 after two straight years of three-game sets in 2024 and 2025...A win today will notch a fourth straight season series win over the Aviators.

August Ascent: The Comets opened August with a victory last night and have won four straight games for the first time since July 8-12 and have clinched just their second series victory since the start of June regardless of today's result (2-3-4)...A win today would give the Comets their second-longest winning streak of the season after they won a season-best seven games in a row May 14-21...The Comets have won five games within the same series twice previously this season - April 28-May 3 in Round Rock and May 26-31 in Sugar Land. However, they have not won five straight games within the same series since June 29-July 3, 2023 at Sugar Land...OKC resumed play out of the break at a season-best 11 games above .500 at 51-40. However, the team proceeded to go 2-8 in the first 10 games following the break before notching four straight wins...The Comets wrapped up July with a 11-12 record and finished with the team's second consecutive losing month, although the Comets tallied a +25 run differential despite the losing record.

Homeboys: The Comets improved to 31-23 on the season at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark with last night's victory and have now won eight of their last nine home games and are 9-2 in their last 11 games in Bricktown...The Comets have scored at least six runs in each of the last nine home games, totaling 72 runs while batting .348 (106-for-305) with 16 home runs and 45 extra-base hits. They have tallied at least 10 hits in seven of the nine games and at least 12 hits in six of the nine games...Between May 22-July 7, the Comets went just 9-13 at home...OKC owns the second-most home wins in the PCL behind Sugar Land (32-23), which is 19-4 at Constellation Field in the second half.

History in the Making: Ryan Ward homered and finished with three RBI last night, going 1-for-3 as he homered for the second time in the series. Against the Aviators this week, Ward has 10 RBI, batting 6-for-21 with three extra-base hits. The 10 RBI is tied for second-most among all PCL players this week...Last night Ward played in his 472nd career game with Oklahoma City to take over sole possession of second place on OKC's Bricktown-era list. Kelly Dransfeldt is OKC's all-time leader with 502 games played from 1999-2002...With his double in the eighth inning Wednesday, Ward tied Jason Botts for the second-most career doubles during Oklahoma City's Bricktown era and is one shy of Dransfeldt's record of 93 career doubles...Ward owns OKC's Bricktown-era career records for hits (481), homers (103) and RBI (375).

No Doubting Thomas: Alek Thomas went 1-for-2 with a walk and sac bunt last night. He has hit safely in each of the first five games of the series, going 9-for-22 (.409) with four doubles, one triple, one homer and five RBI. He collected at least one extra-base hit in each of the first four games prior to yesterday, and his six extra-base hits this week are tied for most in the PCL...Over his last seven games, Thomas is 11-for-31 (.355) with four multi-hit efforts.

Hard-Line: Zach Ehrhard went 2-for-4 with two RBI and scored a run last night. He's hit safely in five straight games (9-for-19) and has reached base in each of his last 11 games, with at least one hit in 10 of the 11 contests (.395; 17-for-43)...During his last 13 games, Ehrhard is 20-for-50 (.400) with 10 RBI, nine walks and 13 runs scored, picking up a hit in 11 of the 13 games...Ehrhard finished July slashing .338/.462/.514 with 14 RBI, 16 walks and 20 runs in 20 games...He is tied for the PCL lead with 79 runs scored this season, ranks fourth in hits (107) and walks (64) and fifth in RBI (71).

Getting Offensive: The Comets have scored a combined 33 runs on 49 hits during their four-game winning streak, including 21 extra-base hits...The Comets have now scored at least six runs in six consecutive games, racking up 45 runs on 65 hits since July 26. This is the team's longest stretch of scoring six runs or more in consecutive games since another six-game stretch June 7-13 (49 R). In each of the six games, the Comets have registered at least one inning of three-plus runs...Through five games against Las Vegas this series, the Comets have 39 runs, 59 hits, eight homers and 25 extra-base hits, while scoring in 22 of 41 trips to the plate. OKC has already set a season high for most hits and extra-base hits in a home series this season and is currently tied for the most runs in a home series...The Comets are 26-for-64 (.406) with runners in scoring position this week.

Free Bird: Alex Freeland reached base in all four of his plate appearances Saturday night, with a triple and three walks. He also scored twice and stole a pair of bases, recording the fourth muti-steal game by a Comet this seaon and first since Tyler Fitzgerald May 9 vs. Salt Lake...Since being optioned to OKC July 28, Freeland is 4-for-9 (.444) with two extra-base hits, five walks and five runs scored in three games...OKC is now 11-3 with Freeland in the lineup this season.

Around the Horn: The Comets have eight stolen bases over the last three games for their highest three-game total since June 27-29, 2025 (8 SB). With nine steals against Las Vegas this week, the Comets have their most in any series this season...Ryan Fitzgerald had last night off but set a career high with his 126th hit of the season Friday. He reached the total in his 98th game of 2026 and paces all players in the Minors in hits...Oklahoma City pitchers have reached double-digit strikeouts in back-to-back games, totaling 22 strikeouts between Friday and Saturday. OKC ranks second in the PCL this season with 927 strikeouts, trailing only Las Vegas (934)...The Comets have won five of their last six home series finales and are 6-2 on Family Sundays at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark this season.
